Winster Cycling Hub - DE4 2DR

Service Description

A wonderful mainly off-road biking experience following a disused railway line (now a cycle trail) and a canal side tow path. The tour starts from Winster and completes at our Ambergate hub. From the Miners Standard the route follows minor roads and farm tracks before reaching Minninglow car park which offers our access to the High Peak Trail. Here impressive engineering embankments provide a reminder of the importance of the Cromford and High Peak Railway to the area. The High Peak Trail is then followed to beyond Black Rock. Workshops, Engine Houses and remarkable inclines provide great interest and are all well documented with information signs en route. At the Cromford Canal the tour travels south along another bygone era of transportation as it hugs the canal tow path from High Peak Junction until Ambergate is reached. Difficulty - Easy Blue Tour Theme - Historic Sites Surface - Mainly on cycle trails, canal towpath, farm track and a short stretch on minor roads Distance - 17 miles Time allocated - 3 hours Refreshment Stop Options - Winster, Middleton Top, Black Rocks, High Peak Junction, Whatstandwell and Ambergate Transportation - Price includes taxi back to Winster and bike transportation Tour Ref -08
