Rock & Ride to Buxton via Poole's Cavern

From Winster enjoy a return trip to Poole's Cavern on the outskirts of Buxton, following the High Peak Trail and hidden roads. Discover the attractive limestone villages and landscapes of the white peak and further en-route the bleaker moorlands surrounding Buxton. From Winster the route passes via stunning back lanes to join the High Peak Trail near Hartington. You can exit the trail at Hurdlow for refreshments at the Royal Oak before encountering the stunning Upper Dove scenery and distinctive limestone peaks of 'Dragons Back Ridge'. Then climb from Earl Sterndale to High Edge and enjoy 360 degree views before descending through rugged moorland down to the outskirts of Buxton. It is then a short ride to Poole Cavern.. You now have an hour or so to spend at this unique attraction where you will enjoy a 45 minute tour beneath the earth with enthusiastic guides, explore the vast limestone caverns and see how crystal stalactites have lined the chambers over millions of years. You will also get the chance to stroll through beautiful woodland trails to a panoramic Peak District hilltop viewpoint or go to the visitor centre to find out more about the history and geology of the area. There is a great cafe, picnic area and even the chance to buy your own fossils, gemstones and jewellery at the gift shop. You should leave a couple of hours for your return journey back to Winster mainly via wonderful chocolate box Peak District villages and a number of well renowned cafes for coffee and afternoon tea that are close to the High Peak Trail. Cancellation Policy

Running Tours is our business so as a general rule we cannot accept last minute cancelation requests where we cannot easily re-book the date. If you need to change the date of your pre-booked tour we do ask for at least seven days notice so that we have the opportunity to re-book your slot. There is no additional charge for changing the date of your tour. If you give us less than 7 days notice and we cannot resell the slot we reserve the right to charge a 50% re-booking fee. We do not offer refunds on cancelled tours only the opportunity to re-book As a general rule we will not cancel any eBike tours based on the weather unless the conditions are so extreme they are not safe for cycling. We use the Met Office to monitor if any severe weather warnings are expected
