No White Flag conquer Winnats Pass
Harness the power of the e Bike to scale this spectacular pass to visit charming Castleton
Service Description
One of our longer black runs but rated black more for endurance than technical difficulty. No Peak District visit is complete without a ride into Castleton experiencing the magnificence of Mam Tor, the scenery of the Hope Valley and Winnats Pass. The tour starts in the chocolate box village of Ashford in the Water where minor roads take you through the lovely villages of Great Longstone and then onto Foolow. Continue on minor roads high up to Great Hucklow with views over the white and dark peak and 5 counties ! It is then a track into Little Hucklow and possibly a visit to the lovely Blind Bull Pub. Beyond the pub the tour follows minor roads high up onto Hucklow Moor where many tracks and bridleways regularly cross the Moor Road which will eventually take you down into the tourist town of Castleton. Perhaps a break at Castleton would be wise before taking on the mighty Winnats Pass. At the top, a track is reached to take you back across Hucklow Moor for your return journey. Bridleways and minor roads pass through Wheston before the route takes you down into Millers Dale. A last stop for refreshment at the Anglers Rest (cycler's rest) or at the coffee shop where the Monsal Trail is joined. The tour then travels through the Headstone Tunnel before exiting the trail at Thornbridge Hall and returning home to Ashford in the Water.
