Service Description

One of our longest black routes from Winster across 4 White Peak Moors with stunning landscapes. The route explores the market village of Winster before back lanes are followed to Birchover and across Stanton Moor. The quiet hilly route then follows minor roads up and down dale and out towards Rowsley. Tracks and bridleways pass above Haddon Hall and farm tracks eventually join the Monsal Trail. After Bakewell Station minor roads and trails cross Chatsworth Estate and through to the wonderful Chatsworth village of Edensor. From Chatsworth to Baslow and beyond minor roads rise gently through pastureland until an old gnarly track is taken high onto the Longstone Moor offering fantastic cycling and expansive views. Bridleways and tracks with the sound of skylarks above can be thoroughly enjoyed before returning down into Great Longstone where a number of hostelries can be visited. Minor roads pass Thornbridge Hall and onto the picture post card village of Ashford in the Water. Beyond Sheepswash Bridge a high climb will be rewarded by magnificent views of the Wye Valley and the outskirts of Bakewell. It is then minor roads through to the wonderful village of Youlgreave. Bridleways and farm tracks take you close-by the river at Bradford Dale and up onto Harthill Moor with views of stone circles and Robin Hoods Stride. It is then onwards to the smaller mining village of Elton offering fantastic views all of the way. A short ride up Moor Lane to Elton Common Moor reveals Winster and the final leg to provide a well-deserved break to rest those aching bones! This route is advanced because it covers over 30 miles with some of the longest climbs of our tours to reach the Moors.
