Derbyshire Estates Explorer Tour
Experience the isolation of Beeley Moor then explore the famous Chatsworth and Haddon Estates
Service Description
From the Peak Edge Hotel our route joins tracks and minor roads to travel west towards Bakewell through magnificent historical Estates. 360 degree views from the top of the moor offer vast landscape vistas and an abundance of interesting fauna and flora. The route initially descends on a gravel and unsurfaced bridleway down between Holy and Harewood Moor. The most technically difficult descent of the day. It is then lovely minor roads across the Moor before another unsurfaced bridleway into the Chatsworth Estate is taken. The Derwent is crossed near Carlton Lees. It is then a superb climb on little used roads high into the Estate eventually revealing amazing views of parkland, Chatsworth House and its fountains below. A descent across Capability Brown parkland often between sheep and deer soon brings you to the House itself where a coffee could be taken or maybe wait until pretty village of Edensor is reached. It is then quiet estate tracks and minor roads into Bakewell for a pudding perhaps! Coombs Lane is followed from Bakewell out to Rowsley through wonderful gated farm tracks high above the Haddon Estate. At Rowsley it is necessary to push the bike through the Grouse and Claret car park to access the Peak Village for a bit of retail therapy or a coffee. A short stretch of road leaves the village behind before climbing into Darley Hillside and back onto the Moor. This quiet route allows for a more direct return home for a well-deserved refreshment back at the Peak Edge Hotel.
