Service Description

The tour starts at the newly refurbished Ashford Arms Hotel or Aisseford Tea Room in the picture postcard village of Ashford in the Water. The River Wyre is followed to the edge of the village before a short section of the Ashford Road finds a minor road which climbs high into the Peak District countryside. Climbing steeply up Kirk Dale so early in the ride is no issue for an e Bike. Upon reaching the top the reward is clear as a minor road finds a hidden gem of a road offering some of the most spectacular views of the White Peak villages below and distant panoramas of the Dark Peak beyond. Looking down on Ashford Hall and its parkland is the first glimpse of the many halls to be encountered en-route. The road will eventually scuttle down into the lovely market town of Bakewell passing by Bagshaw Hall. Town presents an opportunity to pick up a Bakewell Pudding before your route leads up Castle Hill and onto the Chatsworth Estate. Minor Roads and car free tracks bring you down into the unique village of Edensor and the chance for a coffee break at one of the many cafes that the Estate has to offer. A short ride takes you down towards the entrance to Chatsworth House and the stable block. A circular tour of the Estate via Carlton Lees (along minor tracks and grassed parkland) offer fantastic views of the Hall. Leaving the Estate to the north through Pilsley the route takes a short stretch of main road before reaching Baslow. Minor roads then provide a stunning ride out to the beautiful Hassop Hall. The tour then follows the stone walls of the Hassop Estate and onto Great Longstone Hall (opposite the lovely Crispin Inn). A short cycle to Thornbridge Hall crosses the Monsal Trail before quiet lanes take you back home to Ashford.
